چکیده
Joints and interfaces are one of the key aspects design production composite structures. This paper investigates effect adhesive–adherend interface morphology on mechanical behavior wavy-lap joints with aim to improve performance. Intentional deviation from a flat joint plane was introduced in different bond angles (0°, 60°, 90° 120°) were subjected quasi-static tensile load. Comparisons made regarding conventional wavy joints. The visible failure modes that occurred within each configurations also highlighted explained. Load vs. displacement graphs produced compared, as well discussed both visually qualitatively. It observed distinct morphologies result variation load–displacement curve damage types. experience considerably higher due additional bending area, initial starts occurring at displacement. However, load level had its maximum value for single-lap Our findings provide insight development angle optimize behavior, which is widely some biological systems their

Analytical Solution of Stress Field in Adhesively Bonded Composite Single-Lap Joints Under Mechanical Loadings
In this paper, considering an adhesively bonded composite single-lap joint, a novel approach is presented to predict the peel and shear stress distributions of the adhesive layer for an ASTM standard test sample. In current method, the equilibrium equations are derived using the energy method and based on the Timoshenko’s beam theory. Two solution procedures then are discussed, one of which rep...
متن کاملPropagation of ultrasonic Lamb waves in adhesively bonded lap joints
This paper considers the bonded joint as a multilayer structure that is analysed using the Transfer Matrix method. In this particular case three layers (two adherents and the adhesive) are considered. The study of this propagation problem may be developed from matrix formulations which describe elastic waves in layered media. This technique combines the theory of the dynamics of the continuum w...
متن کاملExperimental and Analytical Investigations of the Dynamic Response of Adhesively Bonded Single Lap Joints
Dynamic response of single lap joints, subjected to a harmonic peeling load is studied theoretically and experimentally. In the theoretical part, dynamic response of a single lap joint clamped at one end and subjected to a harmonic peeling load at the other end is investigated. Adherents are modeled as Euler-Bernouli beams joined in the lap area by a viscoelastic adhesive layer. Both axial and ...
متن کاملDynamic response of adhesively bonded single-lap joints with a void subjected to harmonic peeling loads
The only viable method to join some components is by using adhesives. These components are often subjected to dynamic loading, which may cause initiation and propagation of failure in the joint. In order to ensure the reliability of these structures, their dynamic response and its variation with the presence of defects in the bonded area must be understood. The dynamic response of a single-lap ...
متن کاملComputational Models of Adhesively Bonded Joints
Simulations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) play an increasingly important role in the design process of joints and fasteners in the aerospace industry. In order to utilize the potential of such adhesive bonding, there is an increasing need for effective and accurate computational methods. The geometry and the nature of an adhesive joint are, however, not so simple to describe effectively...
